11 Tips to Motivate Yourself To Work Out

Do you ever feel like you don’t have enough time to work out? Do you find yourself making all sorts of excuses not to go to the gym or take a walk? If so, read on for some tips on how to motivate yourself to stay active. Just a few minutes of exercise each day can make a big difference in your overall health, so it’s important to find ways to make it a priority. Try implementing some or all of these tips and see how you feel!

1. No matter how slow you go, you’re still lapping everyone on the couch.

No matter how slow you progress in the gym, you’re still lapping everyone choosing to stay on the couch. It’s not about how fast you work out, it’s about enjoying the workout and feeling good afterward. Just remember, every step you take is a step in the right direction. You’ll get there eventually as long as you keep moving forward. So don’t give up on yourself, because even if progress is slow, it’s still progress. Trust the process and have faith in yourself – you can do it!

2. What seems hard now, will one day be what you’re warming up with

It’s important to remember that everyone has to start somewhere. One day, those challenging workouts will be your warm-up routine. You’ll be surprised at how much your body is capable of.

3. Summer bodies are made in the winter.

It’s important to remember that it takes time and effort to achieve a healthy physique. Everyone wants to lounge around and relax during the warmer months, so those who make the effort to work out in the winter are more likely to enjoy the visual benefits come summertime.

4. Pain is temporary. Quitting lasts forever.

No one ever said that working out was going to be easy. In fact, it can be downright painful at times. But it’s important to remember that pain is only temporary. It might last for a few minutes, hours, or even days, but it will eventually go away. On the other hand, quitting lasts forever. Once you’ve decided to throw in the towel, it’s incredibly difficult to get back on track. So the next time you’re feeling sore or tired, remind yourself that pain is only temporary. You can push through it and come out stronger on the other side.

5. When you feel like giving up, just remember how many people you have to prove wrong.

It’s tough when you’re feeling low and like giving up. But sometimes, it can help to think about the people who doubted you. They said you wouldn’t make it this far. They said you weren’t good enough, smart enough, or strong enough. Well, prove them wrong! Use their words as motivation to work even harder, to push yourself even further. When you feel like giving up, think about how good it will feel to show those people that they were wrong. It’ll be worth it in the end. Trust me.

6. Fitness isn’t about being you better than anyone else, it’s about being better than who you used to be.

A lot of people give up on their fitness goals because they compare themselves to other people. They see someone with an insane physique and think, “I’ll never look like that,” so they give up before they even start. But that’s the last thing you want to do. Fitness isn’t about being better than other people. It’s about being better than who you used to be. It’s about getting up and working out even when you don’t want to because you know it will make you stronger, healthier, and happier. It’s about pushing yourself to be the best version of yourself. As long as you’re moving in the right direction, you’re doing great.

7. It’s better to be covered in sweat at the gym than covered in clothes at the beach.

Do I need to explain this one? Sweating in the gym means you can enjoy the fruits of your labor in the summertime as I mentioned above. No one wants to cover up because they’re self-conscious. Put in the work now so you can enjoy all aspects of your life.

8. Do today what others won’t, so you can do tomorrow what others can’t.

It’s a simple statement, but it’s oh so true. Putting in that extra work even when you don’t want to will lead to a stronger and healthier you. Take action today, and tomorrow will take care of itself.

9. You’ll want to give up. Don’t.

At some point in everyone’s fitness journey, they’ll most likely get the urge to give up. It’s inevitable for some. The urge to quit is normal, but it’s crucial to push through it. Remember why you started this journey in the first place. What were your goals? What did you want to achieve? Let those things be your motivation to keep going. Every time you get through a workout, you’re one step closer to reaching your goals.

10. A year from now, you’re going to be glad you started today.

It’s so easy to come up with excuses for why we can’t make time for a workout. We’re busy, too tired, don’t have the right clothes or equipment, etc. But if you’re sitting around waiting for the perfect conditions to get a workout in, it’s never going to happen. The key is to just do it, even if it’s 30 minutes of cardio. Once you get going, you’ll find that you have more energy and motivation than you thought.

11. I can’t say it’ll be easy, but I can say it’ll be worth it.

So, how do you get started? The first step is admitting that it won’t be easy. It will take time and effort to form new habits and break old ones. But, the payoff is worth it.

You can start by finding a workout buddy or hiring a personal trainer to help keep you accountable. Make sure your goals are realistic and achievable, then put in the work to make them happen. And finally, celebrate your accomplishments along the way! What tips would you add to this list? Let us know in the comments below.
